Your choices: read the public material, use RSS without an email subscription, choose whether to contact the author, and manage saved drafts and preferences in your browser.

Who this policy covers

This policy describes information handled in connection with SMONAD at smonad.com, the research website of Mohamed Haj Yousef. It covers the services described below and the choices available when you use them. Related websites and external services have their own privacy practices.

We use personal information to provide the services you choose, respond to correspondence and protect the website. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Page requests, searches and downloads

Your browser sends information needed to request a page, image, file or feed. Hosting and security systems may keep technical logs, including IP addresses, request times, requested addresses, browser details and referring pages, according to their configuration. These records can help deliver content and investigate technical problems or misuse.

Search terms and chapter selections can form part of a page address. They may therefore appear in browser history, copied links and technical logs. Avoid putting private information into a public search.

Contact and collaboration

When you contact Mohamed Haj Yousef, you choose the information to send. It may include your name, email address, professional background, research interests, references and message. We use that information to respond and discuss the work you propose. Selecting an email link opens your email application; the message is sent when you send it from that application.

Email services and professional or social platforms process communications under their own privacy practices. Please make clear if an enquiry contains material you do not want quoted or shared. Sending correspondence does not itself submit a public comment or enrol you in email updates.

Email updates and RSS

Where email signup is available, we use the address you provide to request confirmation and send the research updates you subscribe to. Subscription, consent and delivery records help operate the service. Limited technical identifiers help prevent repeated or abusive signup requests. The email delivery service also processes recipient addresses and message-delivery information.

You can unsubscribe through the link in an update email. Limited identifiers and opt-out records may remain so that the service can respect that choice. Unsubscribing does not necessarily erase previous correspondence, backups or records held by the email provider.

The public RSS feed requires no email subscription. Your chosen reader requests the feed and handles information under its own privacy practices. Visit Email updates & RSS for the options currently available.

Cookies and data stored in your browser

The email subscription form, when available, uses a session cookie to help protect the form. Reading and research tools can store preferences or working material in your browser, including book text size, constants-explorer settings and discussion drafts you choose to save.

A saved discussion draft stays in that browser until you replace it, delete it or clear the site’s browser data. The drafting tool does not automatically send the draft to SMONAD. Copying, downloading or sending it elsewhere is a separate action.

You can clear stored information through a tool’s deletion control, where provided, or through your browser’s site-data settings. Blocking cookies or storage can affect form security or prevent preferences from being remembered.

Sharing and external services

Sharing controls pass the selected page address and, where relevant, its title to the application or service you choose. Following a social link, viewing a video on another platform or visiting a publisher takes you to a service with its own policies. If a page loads an image or other material from an external source, your browser connects to that source to retrieve it.

The information required to run the website and deliver requested services may be processed by hosting, security and email providers. Information may also be disclosed where required by applicable law or necessary to address misuse or protect rights.

Security, retention and your choices

We take reasonable care with information entrusted to the website, while recognizing that internet transmission and electronic storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure. Correspondence and service records are retained for their relevant purposes, such as responding to an enquiry, maintaining a requested subscription or respecting an opt-out. Hosting, backup and delivery records may follow separate retention arrangements.

Use the contact page to ask about information you have provided or to request a correction or deletion. Describe the service or correspondence involved so the relevant records can be identified. Some records may need to remain for a continuing purpose or an applicable obligation.

Policy changes and contact

This policy will be revised when the services or information practices it describes change. The update date appears at the top of this page. For a privacy enquiry, contact mhajyousef@hotmail.com or use the current details on the contact page.

This edition updates the legacy privacy policy. The Terms and Conditions explain the general use of the website.
